Type Event - Live stage performance Presented By - NCAAWA Title - "Vagina Monologues" (V-Day) “Vagina Monologues” (V-Day) is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and heightens awareness through the benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler’s award winning play The Vagina Monologues. In 2009, over 4200 V-Day benefit productions were presented in the U.S. and around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls. To date, the V-Day movement has raised over $70 million to fund over 11,000 community-based anti-violence programs. This Vagina Monologues presentation is produced annually by the North County African American Women's Association as a catalyst to heighten the awareness about violence against women and girls. V-Day strives to empower women to find their collective voices and demand an end to the violence that affects one in three women in the U.S and around the world. Tickets - $25.00 at the door $20.00 on-line (On-line tickets sales close at 3:00 p.m. day of show) All tickets purchased on-line will be held for pick-up on the night of the show at the Theatre's "Prepaid Ticket Pickup" desk. Type Event - Standup and Sketch Comedy Show Presented By - West Coast Funnies Starring - Bobby Tessel - is one of only a few comics to appear on both, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", and "The Late Show with David Letterman". After high school, Bobby attended Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. He then proceeded to utilize that education by pursuing a career in stand-up comedy. Tessel's first time on stage was to a packed house at the Funnybone Comedy Club in Cincinnati, and he destroyed the room. Since that night, he hasn't looked back. "I love stand-up", Tessel says, "I love putting words in a sequence, that no one in the entire world has ever thought of, in order to get a desired response, laughter. I think that's cool." Also Featuring - “The Pearl Street Players” who will perform their newest sketch comedies including “The News”. Your MC will be Kurt Swann, a local who brings a down-home sense of humor and Johnny Carson style to the West Coast Funnies.
